Hello! here's a paint-over critique with a couple of notes.

i must say you have a wonderful perspective and composition for this picture! However there are a couple of things that can be improved upon. The first thing I noticed was a couple of anatomical issues. The hand that he is looking at seems to be a tad bit large. Keep in mind that hands (including the fingers) are typically the same height as chin to eyebrows for a face. Try observing your own hand to get a better understanding of how a wrist would connect to a hand. Also remember that upper arms and lower arms should be the same length. Now a good thing to do when painting is to flip your canvas, as this helps find any anatomical issues that may be there. His face seems a bit stretched to the right, try in the future sketching out the underlying skull and then drawing the features using that as a base. His upper body does also seem a bit too thin to support his structure. As for the painting, try experimenting more with soft brushes and more rendering. While painterly styles can be done, it can typically look very unrefined and messy. Also keep in mind skin has a base color that is typically a soft red/pink with dark brown shadows and a bit of underlying reds and oranges, as his skin seems a bit too yellow/orange, giving him a bit of a sickly feel. Try doing some tonal studies in the future to better understand skin. Some skin has a good bit of blue in it! Overall great job <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt=":D" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=":D (Big Grin)"/>
